Virgin Classics release 4 of VERITAS X2 series, Bach The Orchestral Suites, Handel Organ Concertos , Brahms / Mozart Requiem, Rossi / Lotti Madrigals

VERITAS X2 is a name  in terms of the landmark recordings on the early music and period instrument performance of Virgin Classics’ catalogue, it re-issues both at an attractive price and beautiful design.

Andrew Parrott’s recording of Bach’s The Orchestral Suites is the newest addition to the Veritas x2 series. These works were also some of the most French-inspired of all of Bach’s compositions. In this recording that is also paired with Bach’s Triple Concerto.

Bob van Asperen’s recording of Handel’s Organ Concertos Op.7 contain six organ concertos for organ and orchestra. They were written for performance during Handel’s oratorios and contain almost entirely original material. Bob van Asperen leads the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in this recording.

Although Rossi was famed as an outstanding violinist and keyboard artist, his reputation also rests on his audacious madrigals, which was inspired by Carlo Gesualdo. Lotti’s madrigals are considered a bridge between the established Baroque and emerging Classical styles. Alan Curtis leads the Il Complesso Barocco in this recording.
