Complete Operas on Deutsche Grammophon 2013 Wagner 43 CDs Boxset

2013 marks the Wagner’s bicentennial year. Wilhelm Richard Wagner (22 May 1813 – 13 February 1883) was a German composer, theatre director, polemicist, and conductor primarily known for his operas. Unlike most opera composers, who generally left the task of writing the libretto (the text and lyrics) to others, Wagner wrote his own libretti, which he referred to as “poems”. Wagner’s  musical style introduced new ideas in harmony, melodic process  and operatic structure, he explored the limits of the traditional tonal system, which gave keys and chords their identity, pointing the way to atonality in the 20th century. This 43 CDs boxset is Deutsche Grammophon’s comprehensive collection, excellent value for anyone who enjoys Wagner operas, there are DG, Decca and EMI recordings here:
