Julia Lezhneva is a mere 23 years old(born December 5, 1989) Russian soprano and coloratura mezzo-sopranoopera singer. Her repertoire ranges across many styles and periods, from Baroque to bel canto to Romantic.It comprises works by Vivaldi and Broschi, Bachand Handel, Mozart and Rossini. The 2012-2013 season overviews Ms Lezhneva’s further projects mainly with Il Giardino Armonico & Giovanni Antonini. This Solo recording ‘Alleluia’ is her debut album for Decca Classics, includes four sacred motets by Handel, Vivaldi, Porpora and Mozart, and Mozarts ever-popular Exsultate jubilate. It’s often claimed that a particular artist is “born to sing”, but rarely is it so literally true as in the case of Julia Lezhneva.
